Chairman of the Board
Mr. Ashot Yesayan is a lawyer by his professional background and held high office both in the Government of the Republic of Armenia and UN structures. Serving as a Minister (1990-1995) and Deputy Minister (1995-1997; 2000-2005) of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Armenia he was also involved in governmental projects related to poverty reduction, human rights and humanitarian issues. Mr. Yeasayan worked as a legal expert for UNDP developing a draft gender law and UNFPA on law on gender based violence. Since 2007 he serves at UNICEF as National expert on child labour and since 2005 he also teaches in Yerevan State University. He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of SOS Children’s Villages Armenian Charity Foundation since 1997.
Ms. Hermine Naghdalyan is PhD in Economics. She is elected Vice-president of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and Elected President of Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe (PACE) Committee on Economic Affairs and Development. She is an author of number of PACE reports addressing issues of social justice, gender and poverty. She is member of the Board of Directors of SOS Children’s Villages Armenian Charity Foundation since 2012.
Mr. Sevak Avagyan is a doctor, graduate of Yerevan State Medical University. Since 2000 he serves as an Executive Director to of Armenian Bone Marrow Project as well as Member of Commission for Presidential Awards in the field of medicine and medical science. He is also an Executive Director of ARS Akhouryan “Mother and Child Health Centre”. In the past he held important positions in the sphere of medicine for instance was Deputy Minister of Health (1999-2000) and Executive Director of S. Nerses the Great Hospital (2004-2011). Mr. Avagyan is member of the Board of Directors of SOS Children’s Villages Armenian Charity Foundation since 2012.
Mr. Zdenko Sedlar is the Regional Director for SOS Children’s Villages International CEE/CIS/Baltics covering Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan. He is a graduate of University of Zagreb (Croatia) and specialist in social pedagogy. Prior to joining SOS Villages International in 1992, Mr. Sedlar worked in various child protection institutions in Croatia. As a Regional Director of SOS Children’s Villages he is the responsible person for overall start up and development of programs, development of board of directors, cooperation with the governments of the countries of his work. In 2009 Mr. Sedlar was awarded "Medal of Altinsarin - The highest State Reward of the Ministry of Education" from the Republic of Kazakhstan. Mr. Sedlar is Board Member of SOS Children’s Villages Armenia since 2005.
Mrs. Ela Janczur.
Mrs. Ela Janczur is SOS Children’s Villages International's Deputy Regional Director for CEE/CIS/Baltics. Her educational background includes Roman Philology and Marketing; she is a graduate of Warsaw School of Economics. Prior to joining SOS Children’s Villages International in year 2000, Mrs. Janczur held different managerial positions in Poland. She was also providing training and consultancy in the field of education. In 2000-2010 Mrs. Janczur served as a National Director of Children’s Villages Poland and managed to lead SOS Poland to the financial self-sustainability. In 2010-2012 she was Project Director for Russia in SOS Children’s Villages International. Mrs. Ela Janczur is a Board Member of SOS Children’s Villages Armenia since 2013.
