SOS Children’s Village Ijevan

At the beginning of November 2013 SOS Children’s Villages Armenia started implementation of Short-term care model for supporting children and their families in crisis situations. Currently there are two Short-term care programs in Children’s Village Ijevan, which

  • Provide safe and protective environment for children, as well as shelter, food, clothes;
  • Provide the best quality care for children through psycho-pedagogical, social, educational, health support and psychological counseling;
  • Ensure quality education for children through involving them in community educational institutions and in the learning process (schools);
  • Help to overcome vulnerability roots of biological families and provide support towards reunification of a child with biological family.

In 2013 our organization started to experiment a new model of family-like care with married couples as SOS caregivers selected from local community. This care model is very similar to the specialized foster family. Currently Children’s Village Ijevan has four SOS couples as caregivers.

Nowadays, in Tavush region all our services for children in difficult life circumstances are united under one umbrella called SOS Children’s Village Ijevan. Within the frameworks of family strengthening programs, family-like care in Children’s Villages and short-term care we effectively respond to the individual needs of any child in difficult life circumstances.
