Success Stories
Desperate family
The sisters Anna, Zhanna and Ani were from those hundreds of flowers that, unfortunately, were left without the Sun. Together with their mother and father they were living in a decrepit hut in the village far in the mountains.
In the yard 7-year-old Anna was riding a bicycle borrowed from their neighbour. 5-year-old Zhanna was trying to fix the broken arm of her only doll. As for a 1-year-old little Ani, she was always on her mother’s arms and wouldn’t leave her.
September was approaching. But Anna did not even have shoes to go to school. The father of the family was trying to find job, but in vain… So the desperate parents decided to turn to SOS Children’s Villages for help. The girls’ mother had explained to them, “You will live far from me, daddy and Ani for a while, my dears. Believe me, as soon as this nightmare ends, we will take you back.”
The road was long. After the rocky roads the car reached the central highway. Anna and Zhanna were curiously watching from the window with their eyes wide open. They have never seen buildings, asphalted road and so many cars.

Daddy, I can go to school!
Here in the village the two sisters were getting a well of sunlight and warmth like the 82 children of the village did. Anna started going to school and was making progress. “Daddy, can you imagine I don’t have any absence from school. Here I have warm clothes and can go to school every day.” Anna was excitedly telling to her father, “And you know? I can see the blackboard clearly. My SOS Mother Gayane has bought beautiful glasses for me!”
Zhanna in her turn was going to the kindergarten with the children of her age. “I don’t feel cold at home or in the kindergarten.” Zhanna was telling her SOS Mother Gayane wandering how it could be.
Meanwhile the winter was approaching. The girls’ little sister Ani had already caught a cold for several times. One cold January day the parents decided to bring Ani to her sisters, too.
Ani was the youngest child of the SOS family. Their SOS siblings liked to say, “Ani is like a doll!” But unlike a real doll, Ani was growing day by day. Her every word and step was becoming a real celebration for her siblings.
East or West the home is best!
In the meantime, 4th child of the Tsaturyan family, their son Aram, was born. After Aram’s birth the state provided the family with a temporary house and monthly family benefit. “Now I am able to take my girls back home,” happily said the father to the social worker Tatevik.
However, all this was not enough to take proper care of 4 children. The situation of the family did not stop bothering my coworkers. Luckily they could find a company that gave the Tumanyan family 10 sheep and a cow. You know? This number increases thanks to the diligence of the family’s father.
Every morning Anna and Zhanna wait for their father to bring fresh milk for them to drink and hurry to school. Couple of months ago the fifth child, little girl Arpine, was born. Now they are all together. They are smiling…
